I'm delighted to give you an exclusive tour of a magnificent listed Renaissance château. But first, let me tell you about its geographical location. This architectural gem is located in Ydes, a charming commune in the north-west of the Cantal, on the border between Corrèze and Puy-de-Dôme.
If you're looking to get away from the noise, pollution, traffic jams, pressure and stress of the big cities, then this is the castle for you! Ideally located on the Aurillac/Clermont-Ferrand route, Ydes is less than half an hour from the A89 motorway linking Lyon to Bordeaux.
Ydes is a real small town in the countryside, offering all the advantages of a rural setting without sacrificing essential services. To find out more about the services available, please visit the town hall website at . You'll find a range of services worthy of a large town!
Now that you have an idea of the exceptional location of this château, let's move on to its detailed description
Starting out as a middle-class house built around 1830, architect Raynaud, with the help of sculptor Émile Gourgouillon, transformed the building into a small neo-Renaissance château around 1910. The original structure was extended with a perpendicular wing, a polygonal stair tower on the north facade and a tower-porch topped by a bell tower on the south facade. The architectural and decorative details are typical of the eclectic and ostentatious style of the period. In 1988, the château was converted into a hotel, and among the furniture dispersed was a statuette by Carrier-Belleuse entitled ‘La Liseuse’.
This 450 m² château is the perfect blend of refinement and comfort.
Ground floor - As you enter, you will discover the living rooms, comprising a large dining room with wood panelling and a carved oak fireplace. The large, light-filled lounge offers a welcoming space, while the library creates a cosy atmosphere. A second lounge, with bay windows, mosaic flooring and sofas, invites you to relax.
The kitchen, on the other side, is tastefully equipped throughout. The fireplace and ‘La Cornue’ piano add a touch of character to this spacious room, ideal for cooking with family and friends.
1st Floor - On the first floor, you'll discover four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Large windows flood these rooms with natural light, with no overlooked areas. All the windows have been renovated and fitted with double glazing for optimum comfort.
2nd Floor - The second floor has two children's bedrooms and a large attic space that has been converted into a games room. This extra space is perfect for family fun. You'll also find four attractive cellars, offering plenty of storage space.
Quality of the renovations - The quality of the renovations and the materials used will enable you to move in with no work required. The mouldings on the ceilings, the ornate radiators and the restored period features add undeniable charm to this château. The diversity of atmospheres in the different rooms will win you over with its unique character.
Gîtes - The property also includes three gîtes in perfect condition, measuring 82 m², 88 m² and 40 m² respectively. They are ideal for welcoming family and friends, or for developing a business project.
Exterior - The grounds extend to 23,000 m², with the possibility of adding a further 34,000 m² adjoining the property.
